Mosquito Hats

Mosquito hats are quite simply hats that have a length of fine mesh that hangs down from the brim to the neck of the wearer. The netting can then be gathered with a drawstring to keep bugs away from the face, ears and neck while outdoors. The netting attached to the hat helps to prevent mosquitoes and other insects from biting and preventing a potentially serious health risk. Mosquitoes are known to carry diseases such as malaria and west Nile virus, so a mosquito net hat can bring comfort to anyone who enjoys being outside, such as hunters, hikers, fisherman and campers, who tend to be in the most infested areas and want to keep the insects away from them and enjoy their time outside, without the worry of being bitten and attacked by a wide variety of biting insects.

Mosquito hats are available in many styles, from brimmed hats to ball caps and military style helmets. For the most part, mosquito hats are compact, usually made from a lightweight nylon material and can be folded into themselves and put in a pocket or carrying pouch when not be used. While they can be purchased almost anywhere, they are most often sold at camping and fishing stores or outdoor gear stores. Hats can range in price from a few dollars to a $100 for a top of the line version hat. It should be noted that not only to these hats keep mosquitoes away, but protect the wearer from other types of insects that bite and can be annoying.

While enjoying the outdoors may include hiking and camping for some, gardening is the top past time of others and mosquitoes can still be a problem. A gardener’s mosquito hat is a perfect gift for the avid gardener. A mosquito hat for a gardener is sprayed with an odorless insect repellent that repels biting insects. In addition to keeping the bugs away, a cape is attached that will cover the back of the neck and be a shield from the sun. If the cape is not needed it can be tucked into the hat itself.

Mosquito hats, while in the past were not always popular they can now be seen as almost fashionable, taking what the military once used to aid in combat and maneuvers, now serves the public well in preventing the spread of diseases from biting insects.
